Hey Sophie, First and foremost - where does DS find you today?
Hey! I am currently on a train on my way down to Truro in Cornwall from London listening to new tracks for my radio show - it's the most beautiful sunny day and I'm praying it will last as i'm hoping to hit the beach tomorrow!
How has the last 12 months been for you, and what have been the highlights?
It's been a whirlwind!! Highlights would probably be touring Australia, playing in South Africa for the first time (I lived there for a year as a child so going back was amazing), playing in Vietnam, releasing my first vocal track and finally launching my radio show on di.fm!
You have been described by Armin as 'The First Lady of Trance', how does an accolade such as this feel?
It's a real honour! Trance has been my life for many years now so it means a lot!
Which artist out there are doing the business for you at the moment?
Thomas Bronzwaer who has been my favourite producer for the last few years consistently - he just delivers time and time again and is so talented at writing incredible melodies that really hit the spot. I'm also really liking Temple One, Arnej and Sebastian Brandt.
You recently released your track ‘Beside You’, any more news on the production / remix front for yourself?
Yes, i've been living in my studio lately so lots going on! My new track 'Together' is finished and will be out soon - which is more big riff-based 'Redemption' style stuff! I am working on another vocal project with Rebecca Emely which i'm really excited about and also a collaboration - more on that one soon!
Your making your debut at DS, what can the crowd expect?
Driving, uplifting trance with lots of emotional melodies and a few darker tracks thrown in along the way! Oh, and the first play of my new track 'Together'.
What are your top 3 tunes at the moment?
AJ Gibson, Stories
Jorn Van Deynhoven, Fastlane
Thomas Bronzwaer, Look Ahead
What would be your chosen career if you weren’t a DJ?
Before my DJing career i worked behind the scenes in TV production so i probably would have carried on along that path.
And finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself?
Erm... when i was younger, I used to be very psychic and freak my mum and dad out by talking to people in our house! Is that interesting or just weird? Ha ha!
Thanks Sophie, looking forward to having you at DS in September!
Thank you - i can't wait! :)
